Accessibility Statement
Our commitment
Injury Network Chicago is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to make our website as inclusive as possible.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. WCAG defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Injury Network Chicago strives to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
Measures we take
- Semantic HTML — We use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and ARIA labels so assistive technologies can interpret our content accurately.
- Keyboard navigation — All interactive elements are reachable and operable via keyboard alone.
- Color contrast — Text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Alternative text — Images include descriptive alt attributes so screen readers can convey visual content.
- Responsive design — Pages reflow to support zoom up to 200% and various viewport sizes without loss of content or functionality.
- Accessibility widget — A site-wide accessibility panel lets users adjust text size, enable high-contrast mode, highlight links, and reduce motion.
- Form labels — Every form field has a visible label and programmatic association for assistive technology.
Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology
This website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
- Speech recognition software
- Screen magnification tools
- Alternative keyboards and switch devices
The site is built and tested against current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
Known limitations
While we strive for full conformance, some third-party content or embedded elements may not yet meet all WCAG 2.1 AA criteria. We actively monitor these areas and work to resolve any gaps as quickly as possible.
